Transylvania is a region in Romania, and the main location where most of the events of the film Van Helsing take place. It is a mysterious and isolated region of Eastern Europe consisting of dark woods and surrounded by the cold Carpathian Mountains, where supernatural creatures such as vampires constantly terrorize its inhabitants.
History[]

Van Helsing and Carl is sent there to kill the vampire the Count Dracula, whom has been terrorizing the country for many years. It is noted to have numerous demons and monsters lurking within its cold, frigid depths, which seeth in nasty weather of thick rain and fog. Notable creatures include vampires, werewolves, and, more specifically, the Frankenstein's Monster.
Although not directly proven, most of Transylvania seems to consist of villages far and few in between, which look poor and fearful under the wraths of the numerous supernatural entities. Despite there being some wealthier others, such as Victor Frankenstein and Dracula himself, everyone else appears rather uncouth and filthy, notably living in crooked, bent-up village shacks.
