Van Helsing Brides 002

A Vampire is a reanimated corpse which preys on the living; returned to life by The Devil and driven by a need to drink blood to sustain their immortality. The first known vampire was Count Vladislaus Dragulia, a disgraced Knight of the Holy Order murdered by his brother-in-arms, Gabriel. Originally humans themselves, each vampire is a converted victim; turned by another vampire, presumably resurrected through an exchange of blood between the sire and their vessel, and thus beholden from then on to the Devil and whichever master vampire is in power at the time.

Count Dracula, the original vampire.

Dracula, The First Vampire[]

Born to Valerious The Elder, Count Vladislaus Dragulia was a 14th Century Transylvanian Knight of the Holy Order and the blood brother of fellow knight Gabriel Van Helsing. As soldiers of the Order, they were sworn to celibacy, however, both Dragulia and Van Helsing fell in love with the same woman.

Hellspawns[]

Dracula's babies

The Hellspawns are the vampiric progeny of Dracula and his three Brides. They are naturally born dead in grotesque, slimy cocoons, but they can be reanimated through the experiments conducted by Dracula, a technique previously created by Dr. Victor Frankenstein to give life to the deceased. Unlike normal vampires, the hellspawns appear as small, hideous bat-like creatures with barely any human features; they have grey leathery skin, a mouth full of needle-like fangs, pointed ears, a long tail, and a pair of chiropteran wings on their backs.

Powers[]

  • Immortality: As the living dead, vampires are immortal; unbeholden to the passing of time so long as they remain fed. Diseases and poisons - save for werewolf venom - have no effect on them, and each vampire seems to remain perpetually at the age in which they died and were resurrected.
    • Regeneration: Vampires have the ability to regenerate lost and damaged tissue within a matter of seconds.
  • Supernatural Strength: Vampires have shown to demonstate remarkable physical strength superior than that of a normal human, regardless of their physical size. They have been shown to be strong enough to lift cattle and throw them into a nearby house, as well as hit a human and send them flying several feet into the air.
  • Supernatural Speed: Vampires can move faster than the human eye can see, appearing an disappearing out of nowhere as if they were teleporting.
  • Supernatural Durability: A vampire's body can withstand a lot of physical attacks. However, their durability can't protect them against weapons of holy nature.
  • Supernatural Senses: Vampires' senses are heightened beyond any human limit; they most likely possess night vision, and like Aleera, can see a human's beating heart and flowing blood. Dracula can clearly hear the rapid heartbeat of man as he approaches.
  • Flight/Levitation: Vampires are able to fly and float from a ceiling to reach the ground.
  • Adhesion: Dracula and his Brides can adhere to and walk on walls and ceilings.
  • Vampire Infection: Vampires can turn humans into vampires by infecting them through a bite.
  • Jaw Splitting: It is assumed that like Aleera, her sisters can split their jaw in 3 mandibles.

Hellbeast Form[]

When vampires reveal their true nature, they assume the form of a monstrous bat-like humanoid endowed with leathery wings, talons upon their fingers and feet, and fully extended fangs. The bride Aleera was shown capable of extending her teeth and mouth to bestial proportions similar to that of a snake. The only difference between the form of Dracula and his Brides is that the Brides' forms retain more human-like features, while Dracula's was larger, more bestial and overall inhuman in appearance.

  • Winged Flight: When transformed, vampires protude large, chiropteran wings that allows them to fly at tremendous speeds.

Weaknesses[]

  • Werewolf Venom: For reasons never specified, the bite of a Werewolf is lethal to a vampire; the venom acting as a poison which eats away at their bodies from the inside similar to an accelerated waste diseases. This is possibly a fail-safe designed by Satan to ensure balance among his creations. This is the only way to kill a powerful vampire like Dracula.
  • Werewolf Claws: Wounds inflicted by a werewolf's claws seem to heal much slower than other injuries.
  • Silver : They are vulnerable to silver.
  • Undeath:
  • Sunlight: They're vulnerable to sunlight.
  • Flames:
  • Pierced Heart/Staking: They are vulnerable to being staked in the heart.
  • Holy Water: They are vulnerable to holy water.
  • Blessed Objects/Crucifix: They can't tolerate the cross.
